Gala Bingo

The decision to close the Gala Bingo hall in Dudley apparently happened very quickly and so no sooner were the staff informed of the decision then the doors closed, although a report in the Financial Mail states that the staff have been offered alternative positions at another nearby Gala Bingo hall we cannot confirm whether this is the case or not. The hall in Dudley had seemingly had a reprieve from earlier reports of a possible closure, but there will be no eleventh hour rescue for the bingo hall this time.

Neil Goulden the Chairman of Gala Bingo’s parent company Gala Coral, said in a recent interview with Bingo Hideout that no further closures had been planned for this year, although at the time of the interview he couldn’t completely rule out the possibility for the future should the Government increase taxation yet again.  Regular readers of popular blog sites like Bingo Hideout will know of the problems that the high street bingo industry is facing, and with the hike in tax, the smoking ban and changes to player habits, the high street bingo industry has been suffering.  Readers who wish to support the ailing high street bingo industry can join the ‘I’m Backing Bingo ’ campaign, a cause which is regularly reported on at the Bingo Hideout site.
