Although this small sum will not keep the wolf away from the bingo industry door, The Bingo Association ‘welcomes the reduction in GPT from 22% to 20%’, however they have pledged on their site to carry on ‘the fight ‘with their ultimate aim ‘to get bingo back to the 15% rate of GPT that it was paying before the budget 2009 and paying the same rate of GPT as other gambling sectors.‘ Ian Burke The Chief Executive of Mecca Bingo's parent Rank said "It is still not clear why Britain's bingo clubs should be subject to a higher tax rate than that applied to other gaming and betting."
